Campo’s signature event, the celebration of the signing of the Articles of Capitulation on January 13, 1847, will be commemorated Sunday, Jan. 12, 2020. We will re-enact the signing ceremony at 1 p.m. and again at 3 p.m. In between we will have a special dedication ceremony for our new plaque honoring our Native Americans who were the site’s first inhabitants. Chief Joseph of Studio City will attend.
The peace treaty that became known as the Treaty of Cahuenga more than a century and a half ago on this site, signed by Generals Andres Pico and John C. Fremont, was, indeed, a peaceful event. Join us as we celebrate with the famous Howitzer cannon fire, fiesta dancers and light refreshments.
